Major High Street Retailer

Encordia led a digital transformation project for a UK wide national retailer, revolutionising their services with a mobile point of sale system replacing end of life technology systems and seamlessly integrating current front of house and back office systems, and planning for future systems.

Redesigning Customer

When phasing out their end of life technologies, our client had to decide whether they wanted to renew contracts and purchase replacement off the shelf solutions or implement a new bespoke in house system. Being a multifaceted business with technologically dependent subsidiaries, the solution needed to be right for all parties, and ultimately a bespoke system was chosen. Encordia were asked to design and build the new system to not only replace the end of life technologies, but to also integrate seamlessly with current and future use cases.

Our Approach

We were agile in our project management, focusing on addressing immediate needs while remaining adaptable to evolving requirements.

We began with a comprehensive analysis of existing processes and systems, working with our client to identify key requirements for the new solution and ensuring objectives and priorities were aligned throughout the project's execution.

We designed the mobile point of sale system alongside researching and setting up procurement channels for the devices that could be used across our clients’ stores.

We recognised a need for future scalability and ensured development would be compatible with current as well as future systems.

We seamlessly integrated their existing back-end systems to bridge the gap in their implementation timeline.

The Outcome

We achieved:

  • A single simpler solution requiring no dependency on third party services or integrations
  • A better retailer experience across the estate which aligns with future technology changes
  • Increased efficiency and cost saving
  • Futureproofing by leveraging cutting-edge equipment and methodologies, enabling smoother and more cost-effective adaptation to future changes
