Case Study
The FIA have recently changed the rules within the world of Formula 1, mandating stricter governance around costing, specifically in tracking personnel hours and budget allocation. Breaking or exceeding these cost caps could result in penalties such as point deductions, fines and even disqualification. Recognising the importance of this change our client began an in house development of an application to address this challenge. During development they realised they needed external expertise to help to design, develop and deliver a comprehensive solution.
Our Approach
We started by reviewing the concept and establishing with our client what functionalities they would need to adhere to the new FIA regulations.
We planned a solution and identified the appropriate platform to build the application on, so that the platform could be accessed via PC, Mobile or Tablet.
We created a data store to hold master data, project information and timesheet data for approval processing, which will also facilitate future integration.
We focused on designing a user friendly interface to improve employee experience of the application, having conducted user research and testing to make sure we understood the front end user, and tailored features to meet their preferences.
We ensured the app architecture was designed for scalability, anticipating the team's future growth and accommodating increasing user loads.
The Outcome
We achieved:
- A series of adaptive, multi-platform applications which helped our client to easily track and report on personnel hours, ensuring adherence to new FIA cost caps
- Elimination of manual transaction errors, with faultless integrations with HR, annual leave and finance systems.
- increased efficiency in logging hours worked and collating the data for reporting
